A Pelham Puppet redressed as the second wife of King Henry VIII
- The tragic Queen Anne Boleyn -
Anne Boleyn was the second wife of King Henry VIII and was executed by the sword - within the Tower of London - on charges of adultery and high treason after only three years of being queen. She was a seductive and highly intelligent woman and famously was the mother to the future Queen Elizabeth I.
She has been the subject matter of many highly successful films and drama series including Anne of the Thousand Days, The Other Boleyn Girl and Wolf Hall.
This puppet is newly created for Pelham Puppets redressed.
Anne Boleyn's base puppet was a Pelham Puppet 'Ballet Girl' marionette and she is dressed in a black velvet gown, cotton lined, with red brocade underskirt and undersleeves. Her neck-line is embellished with hand-crafted lace and golden styled gems. Her petticoat is hooped. She wears a veiled French hood, structured with buckram and trimmed with pearls and sports an amber jewel hanging from a gold chain at her waist.
Her face has had a light touch-up and her hair has been restyled in a period appropriate manner to sit underneath her hood. She is strung using the traditional Pelham Puppet colour scheme.
