A Pelham Puppet redressed as the tragic monarch
- Mary Queen of Scots -
Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots was also Queen of France for a short while in her teens and held a strong claim to the English throne. After a rocky and dramatic reign in Scotland she was captured by her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England and held captive for 19 years. Finally she was brought to trial, accused of high treason - in plotting Elizabeth's assassination. She was beheaded for treason at Fotheringhay Castle. She left behind a son who was to become James VI of Scotland and James I of England.
The base puppet is a Pelham Puppet 'Ballet Girl' whose hair has been replaced with a styled blonde wig topped off with a pearl and lace trimmed 'Mary Stuart' wired coif and gauze veil.
The gown is a rich, red cotton velvet trimmed with gold metallic braid and pearls; her underskirt being cut from shot red/black taffeta. Her wrists are finished with pleated lace trim. The gown's bodice is boned and corset laced at it's rear and a gold medallion hangs from her waist, suspended from a line of small pearls.
This puppet fits within a traditional/regular Pelham Puppet box.
